West Ham United have completed the signing of José Fonte from Southampton, for a fee in the region of £8million.
Fonte, who has less than 18 months left on his contract, has not featured for Southampton since he handed in a transfer request after repeatedly rejecting improved terms.
Marseille have seen two bids for Payet knocked back by West Ham and have told the Frenchman they can only afford to pay 30 per cent less than his current wage.
West Ham are very reluctant to let Payet leave unless they receive a big offer and Bilic says he still has not given up on changing his mind. "They have a lot of fans and I have known for a number of years how passionate they are", he told his new side's official website.
"The manager was also a very big influence".
Patriots fans call Roger Goodell 'coward,' 'afraid' after he ducks AFC championship
This will be the second straight weekend Goodell has been to Atlanta as he was there for the Falcons-Seahawks game last Saturday. Asked on 98.5 The Sports Hub about Goodell attending the game, team president Jonathan Kraft also chose his words carefully.
West Ham held talks with the player's representative on Thursday and an agreement was quickly reached giving Fonte the green light to undergo a medical at the London Stadium. Speaking to the media earlier this month, manager Slaven Bilic stated that "we have said that we don't want to sell our best players, but Dimitri Payet does not want to play for us".
The report claims that Marseille have already made contact with Payet's representatives behind West Ham's back to make him aware of their interest.
"I don't know all the details but I hope a new deal is close, even done". "I probably have most of my memories from after the game when we were celebrating in the big bath tub and enjoyed the celebrations".
There appears to be no way back at West Ham for rebel midfielder Dimitri Payet after his vehicle was vandalised outside his home.
However, Fonte has opted for a move to the capital and joins a West Ham side who are 12th in the Premier League.
