Pop singer Aaron Carter was attacked while performing on stage in IL by a fellow musician, who claimed that the singer had made a racial slur at him.
Carter has since returned to social media to respond to criticism and accusations of racism.
Aaron flaunted his Mexican credentials, saying he has a "100% Mexican manager and she is basically my adopted mom". And my ex girlfriend Myra [is a] 3rd generation Mexican. "I also learned Spanish so I could speak with her parents who weren't fluent in English".
During a performance Friday night at The Loony Bin in Bradley, Illinois, Carter was beginning his show following a performance from opening act, ILL State.

In response to the incident that took place on Friday, Aaron Carter's rep told ET in a statement,"No racial slur was used by Aaron Carter".
The singer also said he was "punched twice in the head" during the altercation. "I'm still standing. Just checked out the hospital".
