Travellers in Scotland and Northern Ireland have been given cause to celebrate, with low-priced airline Norwegian unveiling direct flights from Edinburgh and Belfast to NY and Boston.
To keep costs low, Norwegian Air will fly from smaller USA airports with lower fees.
Stewart International in New York state is 90 minutes with train and bus routes into New York City.
Norwegian Air Shuttle said it will offer 14 new direct flights to small airports in the New York, Boston and New England areas. It's made possible by the airline's use of Boeing's brand new 737-MAX, a smaller, single-aisle plane with greater fuel efficiency and range, which will make its debut on these routes.
But Norwegian's $65 nonstop, one-way flight to Europe is a bold move and real game changer, offering cost-conscious consumers the chance to travel to destinations they maybe have never been to before.
This bargain flight effort is similar to what Icelandic upstart WOW Air has done over the past two years.
"With 200 aircraft on order, we are looking at a lot of airports in America", Lindstrom said.

Norwegian Airlines had not flown directly to Rhodes until its new program, but flies only to four other islands - with one airport near the Island.

Norwegian Air already serves the US from Europe using its fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner long-range planes.
