Police say a 25-year-old Alabama woman jumped from the trunk of her auto to escape an alleged kidnapper in an incident caught on surveillance video obtained by CBS affiliate WIAT.

On Tuesday night around 10:30, a 25-year-old unnamed woman from Birmingham was headed towards her apartment, just as she would any other day.

Surveillance video captures the image of a man suspected of kidnapping an Alabama woman at gunpoint and putting her in the trunk of a auto. The suspect pointed the gun at the victim and demanded money.

Security cam footage of a failed kidnapping has emerged from the USA, the victim escaping from a auto boot as the suspect drives away.

Once out, she ran into the shop and called police. The driver took off.

The woman told police the suspect drove to multiple unknown locations.

As for the kidnapper, Alsabah realized from the get-go that there was something suspicious about him. Police believe he was using her card to get cash from various ATMs, the station reports.

The gas station owner says he helped her call police after she ran inside. He later made her get into the trunk of the vehicle.

He said the suspect appeared to have a pistol in his pocket and tried several times to withdraw cash from an ATM.

Birmingham Police also tweeted a photo of the man they're searching for. Then, he saw the woman hurl herself from the trunk. "I kept an eye on him".

He let the woman inside the store and hid her in a back closet with his shotgun.

Cameras at the gas station captured the moment of her escape, which took place as her alleged captor was pulling out of the parking lot.
