Burundi, a central African country has not yet administered a single Covid -19 vaccination. In Kinshasa, a megacity of 12 million in the Democratic Republic of Congo, healthcare workers have given out fewer than 40,000 Covid-19 shots. People in Uganda queue up outside of hospitals for hours only to be refused due to dwindling supplies.
Nearly 10 Months after the Covid -19 first vaccine was made available, there is a sharper divide between those who have them and those who don’t. While the U.S., other wealthy countries like Israel and U.K. give third shots , to people in low-income countries (mostly in Africa), only 2.2% have ever received a single shot.
