Group of 16 Americans and a Canadian Kidnapped in Haiti

A group of American missionaries in Haiti were kidnapped and taken by a notorious gang, according to a spokesperson for the Haitian Justice Ministry. This happened amid an increase in abductions as well as political turmoil within the Caribbean country.

Ohio’s Christian Aid Ministries stated in Sunday’s statement that an international group, including 16 Americans as well as one Canadian, was abducted Saturday during a visit to an orphanage. According to the organization, five of those taken hostage were children. Ariel Henry, a Prime Minister’s aide said that the missionaries had been taken hostage by highly armed men who were driving along a highway outside of Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
