ROME – On Friday, the Italians were required to prove that they had received the Covid -19 vaccination, that their virus tests have been negative, or that they are free from it. This policy has sparked protests. It could be a glimpse of a similar mandate being planned by the Biden administration.
In one of the toughest anti-Covid-19 regimes in the Western world, Italy now requires all private and public sector workers to have a so-called green pass. Unresolved issues remain about how the policy will be implemented and whether Italy has enough kits for testing to handle the anticipated surge in unvaccinated workers who need access to their work places.
