Officials from the U.S.A. and European Union have created a promise to cut global methane emission by almost a third by 2030,. They are also pushing many of the largest countries to sign them.
The agreement will be the first global commitment to reduce methane ,, a less common gas than carbon dioxide but much more effective at trapping heat. The Global Methane Pledge is a non-binding agreement that calls for countries to set targets but for signatories to commit to reducing global methane-caused emissions to 30%. This will be in comparison to 2020 levels. One person said.
