U.S., European Nations Claim Progress on Path to Removing Digital Taxes

The U.S. has reached an agreement with five European countries on how their digital-service taxes will be removed as part of a larger international agreement, Bruno Le Maire (Finance Minister) said Thursday.

The deal won’t result in an immediate tax withdrawal because it remains tied to the broader international tax agreement which will be completed over the coming years. However, a way forward might ease tensions between the U.S., France, Italy and the U.K. as well as Spain, Austria, and Spain.
